Nº. 21 started out in familiar territory for fall with dark neoprene sweatshirts and simple overcoats telegraphing a been-there-done-that type of vibe. But then designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua turned up the volume and let the funk in.
He played with textures and deliberately mismatched patterns, which worked particularly well with an argyle mohair sweater worn over a brocade shirt and micro-check pants. The words chic and nerd both sprang to mind.
There were some Seventies moments, too, which came through via rust brown and terracotta colors, as seen on a fuzzy coat. The hairy theme, trending on the catwalks of Milan this season, spread all the way down to the feet, shod in mohair socks and thick fur or velvet slip-ons.
