Maharishi founder and creative director Hardy Blechman was five when he started judo. He never really stopped.
He translated this love of martial arts into a street-ready fall collection that drew on the stealthy functionality of ninja uniforms: Pants had dropped crotches and tight calves – for deadly roundhouse kicks – while long-line sweaters and knitwear featured built-in mittens and integrated hoods.
The palette came mostly in black and army fatigue green, while a camouflage print appeared in one funnel-neck nylon coat worn with twill khaki pants. A map print in bright red and green on a black background gave a night-vision effect sprawled on a cool, hooded bomber jacket.
