Agi Mdumulla and Sam Cotton based their collection on “cool man” — a character Mdumulla drew when he was 4 — and aimed to capture the carefree creativity of little kids.
Models wore facemasks made from bits of colored Lego, and strode down the catwalk in zany overcoats, trousers or knits made from a patchwork of primary colors, some with a paint-splotch pattern. Blue suits were boxy, with geometric cutout pockets and patches done in faded orange. One topcoat was made from slouchy pieces of dark fabric precariously held together by strips of Velcro, while a bright blue duffle coat had chunky black toggles down the front.
This was London’s happiest collection yet, but now it’s up those two big kids to figure out how it translates into shop-able clothing.
