Manish Arora offered up a veritable firework display in celebration of his psychedelic label’s 10th anniversary. His “Cosmic Love” collection for fall was a heavily adorned explosion of contrasting textures, patchworks and motifs that contrasted African tribal references with a celestial theme.
Arora factored in a darker palette than has recently been his register, working in an abundance of deep green, royal blue, burgundy and mustard yellow that was heightened by the use of opulent textured fabrics like velvet, silk twill and boiled wool.
Pyrotechnics, planets and shooting stars were printed or embroidered onto sweatshirts, coats and dresses and counterposed with zebra-like and geometric patterns -patch-worked in denim and boiled wool respectively — and diamond-shaped Aztec designs with a Seventies flavor.
Peacock embroideries were another theme, strutting their stuff on luxuriant green gowns or through paisley Swarovski embroideries. Reinterpreted in fuchsia velvet, Arora’s spin on the sweatshirt also had a novel feel.

Arora styled the collection with African head wraps and an array of pearls that looked to be pierced on his models’ faces, accentuating an overall impression that was less kitsch, although no less lavish, than has been his wont of late.
