Visvim designer Hiroki Nakamura looked inward for his fall women’s and men’s collections, revisiting some greatest hits of past years.
A Japanese-cool take on streetwear formed the core of the women’s lineup, which was filled with daywear basics reworked with the brand’s signature twist. Oxford shirts and Ts were decorated with sweet sketches of animals and handwritten messages from Kelsi Nakamura to her husband, while garment-dyed jackets were cut in kimono-inspired silhouettes. The comfort-infused lineup also included indigo-dyed sweatshirts and high-wasted patchwork skirts. In keeping with the brand’s sustainable approach, oversize down jackets were dyed using natural colors with a washed effect.

For men, the heritage pieces played best in an array of kimono jackets, including a formalwear alternative with velvet lapels, hand-stitched details and a filling of unraveled silk cocoons. Also notable: pinstripe suit fabrics with patchwork embellishments and outerwear that included toggle coats, shearlings, corduroy utility jackets and vegetable-dyed suede bombers. Other Japanese influences were apparent in a voluminous pleated pant with a matching ribbon belt that felt like something right out of a samurai movie. While Visvim is not for every man, this collection is sure to keep the fan base satisfied.
