Monique Lhuillier once again demonstrated that she knows how to put it all together and make sophisticated look young, and chic look fanciful. In other words, she had a good time with her fall collection.
Lhuillier threw a cashmere men’s wear coat over a blush embroidered gown and paired an alpaca metallic ribbed sweater with a fluid rose-pink paisley midi skirt. The winning point here was counterpoint. She also embellished — encrusting the shoulders of a simple shirt, for instance — and showed dressed-up sporty separates, such as embroidered mohair sweaters and lace blouses paired with lean tweed skirts or full paisley midi versions. Her pants? They came in both metallic floral cropped pants high-waisted silk pajama versions.

Although the lineup was full of inventive mixing and layering, Lhuillier didn’t disappoint with her dresses, showing them in luxurious fabrics such as guipure lace, done in both a dark green midi and a blue short-sleeved sheath with lacquer floral embellishment. This collection was a reminder that Lhuillier has a knack for doing pretty without ever getting precious.
