Fall marked Lafayette 148’s 20th year in business. To celebrate, creative director Emily Smith looked back to the era when it all started — the Nineties — researching vintage ad campaigns and mining the moment’s minimalist trend, as well as mock turtlenecks, slouchy silhouettes and all things velvet. Her earth-toned lineup featured oversize knits done in velvet yarn or cashmere with dip-dye ombré effects paired with long paisley skirts and culottes to keep things current. A patent leather trench and double-faced cashmere overcoats — some decked out with mink fur pockets and shearling trim — felt especially luxe.
