Mary Alice Haney wants to broaden her reach beyond the sexy red carpet looks for which she’s become known. The former editor and stylist introduced separates for pre-fall and continued to amp up the daywear in her fall collection — with looks that included a navy cashmere wrap coat and her take on a “sweatshirt,” done in Italian silk — all of it oozing polish. Staying true to her roots, Haney still showed plenty of chic evening options, such as a black minidress with gold metal fringe and a pair of bodycon jumpsuits with transparent waist embroidery.
For inspiration, the designer imagined the kind of clothes the waifish Mia Farrow circa “Rosemary’s Baby” might have worn. A few looks — such as a printed lavender blouse with bell sleeves and matching cropped flares — did have that Sixties Mod appeal.
