Introducing his collection for the first time at New York Fashion Week, APC founder Jean Touitou said that his goal is to deliver clothes that aren’t revolutionary — but are still beautiful. “I don’t want to sound boring and it’s difficult to say these things in a world where everybody wants to sound edgy,” he told WWD.
The lineup he unveiled after more than four years of presentations in Paris was definitely not avant-garde or subversive, but it did offer a chic take on the French minimal look.
References to the Seventies emerged in the women’s range, which included daywear staples crafted from high-end fabrics: a suede bomber matched with a graphic midi wool skirt and a micro-check shirt, a velvet trench worked in a deep tone of rust and several denim pieces, including a zippered jacket with a shearling collar and straight-leg pants cut above the ankle.

The men’s range was infused with the same clean aesthetic. A felt coat was paired with corduroy pants, while a mélange sweater was layered under a zippered jumpsuit for a touch of eccentricity.
APC also presented its collaborative effort with activewear label Outdoor Voices. The sporty range, hitting stores in July, included solid-colored jersey joggers, hoodies and T-shirts for men and women. On a more feminine note, there was a fitted jumpsuit with a cutout on the back, and on a more masculine level, a pair of short pants and a hoodie worked in a graphic print offering a new take on camouflage.
