Using an unusually diverse cast of models for a Tokyo show, Koji Tezuka seemed determined to prove that guys can look cool at any age. Tezuka said he is seeking to create a “new age of dandyism” with his Iiser Loen brand, now in its second season. The designer, who has a background in women’s wear and knitwear, sent out some models sporting hipster facial hair — a few with more than a touch of gray — in looks that included skinny leather pants and Eighties-inspired leather jackets and sweaters in leopard print.
Some of the outerwear looked sharp, in particular the car coats and blazers with leather panels on the sleeves. Other pieces, namely sweaters and jeans, were more mundane. But clearly Tezuka is confident he has a market out there as Iiser Loen just opened a new store in Tokyo’s swanky Omotesando Hills mall, hardly a low-rent complex.
