After he began designing for Hanae Mori last season, Yu Amatsu said he decided to focus his own line, A Degree Fahrenheit, more on “everyday clothes.” He succeeded on that front, delivering looks that could serve as elegant yet functional additions to a woman’s wardrobe.
Zippers were central to the collection as Amatsu said he wanted to create “many lines and stripes” on the individual pieces in a bid to emulate mirages. Shiny silver teeth adorned the edges of peplums and ran up the sides of pant legs. Standouts included leather skirts and pullovers with sections that could be zipped open and a slim-fitting shirt with a zipper-trimmed panel that fell from one collarbone to the opposite hip.

Despite the unexpected details in the women’s wear, the men’s lineup seemed like more of an afterthought. The mostly casual fare included sweat suits, jeans, T-shirts and a big, shapeless ivory toggle coat. Many of these items also featured the aforementioned zippers, but they did little to add interest to the basic look.
