Barbara Bui always loves a sexy shot of rock ’n’ roll in her lineup, and this mostly dark — navy and black mixed with a touch of brown and sky blue — fall offering was no exception. Biker jackets continued to rev up the season’s runways, both designer and contemporary, and Bui worked hers in black velvet or covered in sequins for evening, and in nylon or vinyl-down versions for everyday use.
The collection — full of leather shirtdresses, sweeping coats and flowing gowns — had a safe, commercial aesthetic that, aside from a top and several coats with mirrored, metallic embellishments, fell short on any fashion news. But the confident, city-dwelling, black-wardrobed Barbara Bui woman will find plenty to love.
