It might only be Jeffrey Dodd’s second season showing his namesake label, but the young designer turned out a sophisticated-yet-sexy collection. It was inspired by the works of Cesare Casati, an Italian industrial designer, as well as a collection of rocks that he amassed as a child. Translation: a rich and textural lineup that focused on linear shapes and clean lines.
Tailored suits, chunky knits and body-skimming jersey skirts were perfect for day, but Dodd’s strength was in his intricate pieces, most notably the lambskin leather skirt with sequin embroidery in a graphic pattern. There were a few missteps, however, such as the gold metallic silk dresses and the blue fur chubby — both a little too reminiscent of Studio 54.
