Fall is shaping up to be quite a season for outerwear, and even Custo Dalmau covered his usual minidresses and thigh-topping skirts for Custo Barcelona with handsome coats, jackets and capes. Underneath, alas, was an overload of busy prints, odd fabric mixes and fringelike, flyaway panels. What Dalmau did prove was that he’s not confined by his brash, club-girl aesthetic. His ethnic-detailed wool and mohair capes and long, oversize plaid tailored coats wouldn’t look out of place come daylight. More of that sensibility would be most welcome.
