Shrinking violets need not apply. The outfits Alexandre Vauthier sent out in his couture show were clearly aimed at the type of girl who likes attention. Plunge-necked cream peplum jackets were paired with thigh-grazing miniskirts, while a gold lamé swimsuit barely covered the rear. Vauthier injected a street vibe with sporty fabrics like Neoprene, as well as gangsta rap-style chunky gold chains. Though a couple of the draped gowns looked languid and elegant, this literal homage to the golden days of disco seemed out of tune with the current times.
