The latest Isabelle Armstrong bridal collection sought to celebrate and revitalize renaissance dressing for the modern woman. The majority of the gowns were traditional — beautifully handcrafted from fine silks and delicate laces — done in A-line and fitted silhouettes. Light Victoriana touches were most effective: High tulle and lace collars, billowy sleeves and light ruffle effects didn’t overpower the gowns but instead added sophisticated touches. (Dramatic oversize tiered ruffles and bunched-up tulle embellishments sent the gowns into costume territory.) The most exciting pieces included an off-the-shoulder lace A-line with a sweetheart neckline and a satin-faced organza A-line with square neckline and liquid organza peplum ballgown that gave the appearance of patent leather.
