Claire Pettibone took a trip to the Wild, Wild West for her spring collection of bridal gowns, which drew from pioneer and prairie styles with gathered high necks, scalloped lace edges and touches of black ribbon and lace throughout. “I’m a lace fiend,” she admitted backstage, while a fitting cover of “I Shot the Sheriff” played loudly through the speakers. “And I thought the black accents gave it a little bit of an edge. The dresses are so feminine and romantic that a little spice is good.” Some looks felt overembellished with floral appliqués, beading and embroidered lace, veering into costume territory. Pettibone was at her most elegant when she approached the theme with a more delicate hand.
