Austin Scarlett drew inspiration from “The Winged Victory of Samothrace,” the second-century Greek sculpture displayed at Paris’ Musée du Louvre. In particular, he cited its sense of flight and movement. A strapless ballgown with a layered tulle skirt and ribbons of satin organza piping captured the ethereal, weightless mood, as did a tulle column gown with a detachable train, embroidered with crystals, lace and cascading satin petals. Most elegant was an off-the-shoulder trumpet gown in silk radzimir with a low-cut back and buttons that extended to the floor.
