The month of November brings color-changing leaves, colder weather and more time for family gatherings, especially for those who celebrate Thanksgiving.
For the new season, streaming services are slated to release a number of movies for an intimate binge night in, or a full-on watch party with the whole family. The new November releases range from mysterious true-crime to heartfelt coming-of-age stories and holiday-themed pictures.
Netflix is releasing “Rustin” in November, starring Colman Domingo as historical figure Bayard Rustin, who was the late Martin Luther King Jr.’s adviser. In addition, the platform will also release “Family Switch,” a heartfelt comedy starring Jennifer Garner and “Wednesday” actress Emma Myer as a mother-daughter pair.

“Wing Women”

After years of living life on the run, a witty theif decides to embark on one final heist before giving up the illegal profession. She enlists in the help of her closest confidant and partner, along with a her new getaway driver Sam. Mélanie Laurent both stars and directed the film.

“Nyad”

“Nyad” is based on the world-renowned-athlete Diana Nyad, who at 60-years old completed the 110-mile open ocean swim from Cuba to Florida, the first person to do it without a shark cage for protection. In real life, Nyad completed the feat with the help of her best friend and coach, Bonnie Stoll. In addition, the film’s November premiere marks the directorial debut of filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin.

“Fingernails”

This science fiction film centers around Anna and Ryan, a couple whose love has been technologically proven compatible. Even with the polarizing technology, Anna has second thoughts and in the process, falls in love with someone else.

“The Killer”

Based on the graphic novel series of the same name by French author Alexis “Matz” Nolent, this film follows a calculated assassin as he beings to unravel mentally, with nowhere to turn. Directed by David Fincher, the film first premiered at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival in September.

“Best. Christmas. Ever!”

This comedic holiday film sees Brandy Norwood (as Jackie) and Heather Graham (as Charlotte)play frenemies who all of a sudden are reunited during Christmastime. The union shows both women that nobody’s life is perfect as it seems.

“Believer 2”

A sequel to the 2018 film “Believer,” this film will pick up on Detective Won Ho’s determined search to unveil the truth surrounding Asia’s largest drug organization. Both “Believer” and the sequel are directed by South-Korean filmmaker “Baik.”

A biographical drama film about the famous Bayard Rustin, who was known for being Martin Luther King Jr.’s adviser and one of the pioneers of the March on Washington. Rustin, portrayed by Colman Domingo, is also remembered as one of the first openly gay leaders in the Civil Rights Movement.
