“Project Runway” contestant Sha’Vi Lewis has died at 38. His aunt Deidra DivaDoll Elkerson made the announcement on Facebook on Tuesday.
“My fabulous, talented nephew Sha’vi Lewis is gone from this place. I won’t hear his greetings to me anymore “Hey auntie diva” (yes i am shouting),” Elkerson wrote, asking for prayers for Lewis’ family. “I know he is in a much better place. I can just imagine the welcome he received when he got to those pearly gates with so many loved ones who had gone on before,” she said.
Franklin Shavi Lewis Frierson Jr., his full name, competed in Season 18 of “Project Runway,” finishing the show in 10th place. The season aired from December 2019 to March 2020.

Brittany Allen, a competitor from Season 18, shared a tribute post to Lewis on her Instagram account.
“I don’t have the words. My heart aches. The world and this industry will be dim without your light in it. Your love, your laughter, and your continuous support no matter where we were in life was everything,” she said.
Before joining “Project Runway,” Lewis, who was born in New Jersey, participated in a summer program during high school at the Fashion Institute of Technology and attended the Clark Atlanta University for Fashion Design. After the show, he worked on his menswear company, Stephen F, and some of his creations were featured in FX’s “Pose” Season Two.
Lewis’ cause of death is unknown at this time.
