Madonna is bringing “the Olsen tuck” back.
The 67-year-old singer arrived at the Saint Laurent spring 2026 show outside the Eiffel Tower on Monday night during Paris Fashion Week, her wavy blond hair loosely trapped under the collar of her leather top, curls snaking around the edges of her face, pooling just below her collarbone.
The made-to-look messy style has gone viral online recently, under the nickname, “the Olsen tuck,” in honor of its original trendsetters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, both of whom sported the look at a W Magazine party during New York Fashion Week earlier in September. Here, Mary-Kate Olsen pushed the back of her caramel-colored hair into a shawl draped around her shoulders, while Ashley Olsen kept the left side of her strawberry-shaded hair hidden under a gray scarf looped around her neck, letting the right side unravel as it pleased.

While their recent tucks surfaced online, the Row codesigners were modeling the effortless approach to beauty long before. Images from 2004 show the sisters hiding their low ponytails under buttoned jackets and fur collars; the tops of their heads teased as if they’d just rolled out of bed. Ashley even donned the undone style on the Met Gala red carpet in 2017, tucking her blond ends under a dull green collar.
Phoebe Philo, a known proponent of “the Olsen tuck,” famously brought the antiglamour aesthetic to the high-fashion world when she took a bow after her fall 2011 collection for Céline with her hair pulled halfway out of her turtleneck. Namesake designer Nina Ricci is also a well-regarded leader of the hair tuck on the runway, styling models with jackets and collars covering their ends.
At the Saint Laurent show in Paris on Monday night, Madonna wasn’t the only one to make a case for “the Olsen tuck.” Hailey Bieber, Zoë Kravitz, Cristin Milioti and more posed between beds of hydrangeas with their hair swept beneath their garments. Kravitz, specifically, evoked Philo way back when with her dark hair buttoned under a tan windbreaker.
Madonna typically collaborates with her longtime hairstylist Andy Lecompte; however, it’s not certain Lecompte was responsible for this look. WWD has reached out for confirmation.
