A founding member of the bob hair trend, Keke Palmer is now a pioneer of the pixie cut movement.
The 32-year-old actress first debuted the cut with fresh cherry cola coloring in August 2025 and has kept her hair short ever since. The streak continued on Tuesday night for her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Here, her hair wasn’t fiery red; it was inky black with ginger tips, forming ripples across her head. The sides were much shorter, shaved down and brushed forward compared to the top. On Monday, Palmer donned the same style and color at Peacock’s advance screening of “The ‘Burbs” and live taping of “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer.” She was also seen with a similar look at an NBA game back in January.

In the past, Palmer has famously collaborated with editorial stylist Laura Mazikana, as well as wig designer Kira Dior to create her below-the-ear aesthetics. For her pixie, she’s been favoring specialist Ann Jones. That said, Jones has not been confirmed as the architect behind Palmer’s Tuesday talk show appearance. WWD has reached out for comment.
The pixie cut has been popping up more and more as of late, signaling what could be a change in the original 2026 hair forecast. Emma Chamberlain was one of the first A-listers to shed her shoulder-length cut for a platinum pixie last year. Gracie Abrams soon followed suit, clipping her finely chopped ends into rough layers, forming a hybrid bob and pixie.
Popularizied by First Lady of New York Rama Duwaji, the “bixie” aesthetic is for the indecisive, anyone too afraid to take the pixie plunge. The look has been trending online for the last few weeks, following Duwaji’s appearance at her husband Zohran Mamdani’s swearing-in as the 112th mayor of New York City in January. Speaking with WWD, celebrity stylist Antonio Velotta said Duwaji’s bixie specifically is “tailored with soft graduation, so it frames the face without heavy layers throughout the crown.”
