Gracie Abrams slicked her dark brown hair back for the Chanel spring 2026 couture show on Tuesday during Paris Fashion Week, where she sat front row alongside brand ambassadors Nicole Kidman, A$AP Rocky and Dua Lipa.
Inside the Grand Palais, the 26-year-old “Close to You” vocalist donned a new iteration of what several celebrity hairstylists are dubbing the “bixie,” a hybrid bob and pixie. The style — characterized by short, choppy layers — was a far cry from her signature blunt cut and middle part.
Abrams first debuted the fresh hairdo in early January, following the release of her Chanel Coco Crush Campaign, which featured her with a straight, chin-length bob styled by Bobby Eliot. Eliot — artist to Miley Cyrus, Grace Van Patten and Julia Garner — has been the visionary behind the “Risk” singer’s hair for the last few years. That said, Eliot has not been credited as the architect behind her most recent cut. WWD has reached out for confirmation.

The “bixie” aesthetic has been trending online in recent weeks thanks to 28-year-old Rama Duwaji, the new first lady of New York. Speaking with WWD, celebrity stylist Antonio Velotta said Duwaji’s bixie specifically is “tailored with soft graduation, so it frames the face without heavy layers throughout the crown.”
Duwaji’s, unlike Abrams’, style also includes finely chopped fringe. Marcos Diaz, hair artist to Poppy Delevingne and Sierra Miller, said the fringe is key here; it’s what separates the style from the French bobs and hybrid pixies. “It’s broken and slightly irregular, which gives the haircut its lived-in, modern feel. The perimeter is intentionally soft, avoiding bluntness, so the shape feels organic rather than rigid,” Diaz explained. “The cut sits close to the head with subtle internal texturizing to keep it light without removing structure.”
Back at the Grand Palais in Paris, Abrams opted for a high-neck, tweed-fringe blazer, barrel khakis and pointed-toe pumps with a white diamond pattern. Meanwhile, her glam was soft and even-toned, bolstered only by a sharp baby wing of black liner, highlight on her nose and a faded taupe hue on her lips.
