Blackpink’s Jennie Kim dug into the Jean Paul Gaultier archives for the French label’s spring 2025 couture fashion show on Wednesday.
The K-pop idol selected a beaded nude illusion gown from Gaultier’s spring 2008 couture collection, which featured the addition of criss-cross straps on the bodice. She matched the dress to her spindly manicure, also adorned with beads.

Kim currently works with stylist Park Min Hee, who also dressed her for Chanel’s couture show on Tuesday. Gabe Sin styled the singer’s dark tresses in a bouffant, while her minimalist makeup consisted of light eyeshadow and lip gloss.
Gaultier’s latest collection was guest designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Kim congratulated him on Instagram, writing, “Love you, your collection was perfection @ludovicdesaintsernin.”
Kim’s archival look nodded to the theme of de Saint Sernin’s Gaultier collection, “Le Naufrage,” or “Shipwreck.” Gaultier’s spring 2008 couture presentation was subtitled “Sirens,” a reference to the mythical creature that lures sailors to death with their songs.
“The idea was to create a story that would inspire people and make them dream about couture,” de Saint Sernin told WWD of his Gaultier designs. “There’s elegance, there’s luxury, there’s lust – all of the emotions that you can think about on a shipwreck.”
At the Chanel show on Tuesday, Jennie spoke with WWD about working on her forthcoming album, “Ruby,” her first full-length solo project.
“It’s been overwhelming. And you know, I’m just on the road until my album is coming [out]. So everything has been a great journey, and I’m excited for more to come,” she said.
