Nelly Furtado started her career in the 1990s, but it was during the Y2K era that the singer rose to prominence. In 2000, she released her hit single “I’m Like a Bird,” which is one of the pop star’s best-known songs to this day. Later, she would work with Timbaland to produce the song “Promiscuous,” which reached number on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit number one in multiple other countries.
In September, Furtado released the song “Keep Going Up” in collaboration with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, marking the first time the trio has reunited in sixteen years after “Give It to Me.” She also revealed that new music is in the works.
Here, WWD looks at her style evolution through the years.
