Alex Consani won the Model of the Year award at the 2024 Fashion Awards in London on Monday night, becoming the first transgender winner of the category in the ceremony’s history.
“I’m the first trans woman to win this award. I can’t accept it without thanking the females who came before me and specifically the Black trans community that really fought for the space,” Consani said in her acceptance speech.
Consani, who has modeled for Thom Browne, Victoria’s Secret, Jean Paul Gaultier, Casablanca and Delcore, recently starred in Jacquemus’ holiday campaign “Winter Retreat.” The model is also known on TikTok for her humorous videos, which have garnered more than 138 million likes.
