Chelsea Handler is ready to join avid skiers in their swimsuits with the hopes of setting a Guinness World Record for the Largest Swimsuit Ski Run at Palisades Tahoe on Friday. The comedian and longtime women’s reproductive health advocate partnered with Gold Bond ahead of the swimsuit ski run, sharing why the skin care brand is essential to maintain the “integrity” of her skin and support her and fellow skiers as they hit the slopes.
“I’m a big skier so, when you ski a lot, you need a lot of moisturizer,” Handler told WWD. “I discovered Gold Bond when I was looking for a nice body moisturizer. I’m not skiing in my bathing suit all the time,” she admitted, adding, “but you need to keep yourself moisturized, even when you have your ski clothes on — just because you’re exposed to the elements and your body is freezing.”

On Friday, Handler will lead participants as they ski or snowboard down the slopes in swimsuits — something Handler has captured herself doing in years past, sharing videos to her Instagram account. The event highlights the importance of skin hydration in cold weather, putting winter skin to the test.
As far as how the avid skier preps for such a feat as achieving a Guinness World Record for Largest Swimsuit Ski Run, the training isn’t exactly stringent. “I’m always in good shape, I’m always training, I’m always taking care of myself, but the most important thing is to bring the high vibes.” Handler is focused on keeping the event “fun” and “joyful” in equal measure.
“There is something so empowering about getting a bunch of people together and the act of just basically chasing adrenaline. You’re not even cold because there’s so much adrenaline happening and when you get a big group together and you’re doing it together, there really isn’t a more fun way to spend your day.”
With her adventures in skiing, Handler trusts Gold Bond to keep her skin healthy and safe while exposed to the elements. “It gives you a nice sheen and it’s a buffer,” Handler explained of Gold Bond’s lotions and moisturizers. “The consistency of it is perfect because it’s protecting your skin from all the wind and from the sun. That to me is so important because I want to maintain the integrity of my skin. I have really soft skin and I want it to stay that way.”
Gold Bond, which features the healing, hydrating and restorative power of such lotions and moisturizers as the Healing Sensitive Daily Body & Face Lotion and the Healing Hydrating Lotion, is crucial to not only maintain Handler’s healthy skin, but also to give it a “dewy and glowy” look. “Gold Bond accomplishes that for me. And I don’t think anyone can say that I don’t look dewy and I don’t look glowy, because I do!”
Among her go-to Gold Bond moisturizers, Handler says the Healing and Hydrating Body Cream is her must-have. “I need the hydrating cream for my body, I’m always in need of hydration. And I’m not going to lie: I’ve used the hydrating cream for my body on my face, too,” the past Critics Choice Awards host admitted.
While Handler recently lent her platform to the hydrating power and moisturizing properties of Gold Bond, her advocacy extends beyond this endorsement. Handler is a longtime advocate for women’s reproductive rights, and shared with WWD how her approach to her activism has changed over the course of the last decade.
“I think the way it may have changed is because I have understood not only how important it is to stand up for the things that I believe in, but to be so compassionate and supportive of other women and the idea of sisterhood,” Handler said. “The most important lesson I’ve learned in the last 10 years is that all ships rise with the tide. Your success is my success; our success is our success. It’s something we can all enjoy and share together,” she said.
“We don’t have to compete with each other, there’s room for everyone at the party.”
