Alix Earle gave boho chic dressing a contemporary spin in a striped semisheer maxidress courtesy of De La Vali for the “Happy Gilmore 2” premiere on Monday in New York City. The model and influencer‘s dress heightened elements of the boho trend and paid homage to the inspiration behind De La Vali’s curated pieces.
Earle’s dress featured an off-the-shoulder, boat neckline with a small rosette detail. The dress included shades of sand and brown in horizontal, vertical and diagonal stripes throughout. The long sleeves of the dress featured a slightly flared element with ruffles, similar to the hemline of the maxidress.

De La Vali, founded in 2017 in Ibiza but based in London, emphasizes designs with nods to Spain and the vibrance and ease of bohemian style. Founded by creative director Jana Sascha, De La Vali’s curated pieces pay homage to artist Vali Myers, an Australian artist whose bohemian lifestyle garnered media attention in the U.S. during the 1950s and 1960s.
For decades, bohemian style vacillated in the fashion world as an aesthetic and style inspiration. The term has roots in the 15th century, as a term to describe the Roma people who migrated from the country of Bohemia, known today as the Czechia. The term evolved over the course of centuries, describing struggling artists, creatives and intellectuals in 19th-century France. In the 20th century, bohemian styling saw a surge. The post-World War II 1960s introduced looser silhouettes as an answer to the constricted styles women wore in decades prior and festival attire coincided with the rise of the boho aesthetic.
Today, bohemian style remains a cultural and runway mainstay, featured in notable collections such as Chanel’s fall 2024 show, Chloé’s fall 2024 collection, Isabel Marant’s spring 2025 collection, Kiko Kostadinov’s fall 2025 collection and more. Brands like H&M also capitalize on the bohemian style trend. In February, the brand introduced its “The White Lotus”-themed collection. The designs were created in a collaborative partnership between H&M and “The White Lotus” Emmy-nominated costume designer Alex Bovaird.
