Original Penguin will launch a new premium collection called Original Penguin Blue Label for fall.
The first edition of the line will consist of a tight 24 pieces that are priced 20 percent to 30 percent higher than the brand’s main line. It will include jacquard knit cardigans and polos, double-pleated wool trousers, suede bombers, foulard printed woven shirts, and a tonal jacquard blazer. There are also joggers, a camel roll-neck sweater and a suede-collar topcoat.
Original Penguin Blue Label will be available in August at department and specialty stores as well as on the company’s Web site.
“We created Blue Label after the success we had in the market with small capsule collections we made for a few of our wholesale partners in 2015,” said Adam Weir, vice president of design. “The Original Penguin guy is growing up and wants to wear something that is sophisticated and fashion forward but still has a bit of fun. Blue Label is able to straddle that fine line.”
Original Penguin, which is owned by Perry Ellis International, marked its 60th anniversary last year.
