MILAN — Martha Stewart, the doyenne of upscale American living, made a splash at Milan Design Week on Wednesday.
The media icon told WWD that she was in Milan on the occasion of the opening of Kohler and Flamingo Estate’s installation “The Flamingo Estate Bathhouse by Kohler,” which was unveiled in an immersive, multisensory installation. The modernist reinterpretation of the bathhouse dialogued with the natural surroundings within the courtyard of the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea on Via Palestro, 14.
“The launch of the enamel cast iron bath house popularizes bathing as a nice form of relaxation again,” Stewart mused, at a dinner hosted by Flamingo Estate to celebrate the launch of its limited-edition Prinsesstårta Milk Bar Soap, timed with Salone del Mobile. In July, kitchen and bath leader Kohler said it appointed Stewart, whose life is expected to be depicted on the silver screen by Cate Blanchett, as a brand ambassador. Stewart has been entrusted to collaborate with Kohler on a series of engaging content pieces and events throughout 2025 and 2026.

In a private room in Milan, friends of the brand gathered alongside Flamingo Estate’s creative director Aaron Harvey and chief operating officer Lauren Prince at Sant Ambroeus in the heart of Milan’s Quadrilatero Shopping District.
This dinner was attended by interior designer Kelly Wearstler, Glossier founder Emily Weiss, artist Gabriella Campagna, creative director Gabriella Khalil, jewelry designer Bea Bongiasca, furniture designer Mario Milana, Nina and David Kohler, homeware designer Sophie Lou Jacobson and more.
Stewart told WWD that it was (maybe) her third time at Milan Design Week. This week she visited Dimorestudio’s Interni Venosta exhibit inside Palazzo Olivazzi, a private residence designed by Osvaldo Borsani and which reportedly hosted the family of Albert Einstein at the turn of the century. Stewart said she also attended the star-studded opening of RH Milan on Tuesday.
“There’s so much variety and there’s so many enthusiastic designers and architects and creators here…. And we’ve met a lot of very nice people and seen a lot,” she said, adding that she was on her way to visit an appliance manufacturer in the northern Italian city of Brescia, as well as the official opening of the Lake Como Edition Hotel.
In February, Stewart hosted a candlelit dinner at the Flamingo Estate home in Eagle Rock in Los Angeles, feting the brand’s launch of Elm Biosciences’ A30 Elemental Night Cream alongside a mix of industry leaders and influencers. Guests included her business partner and dermatologist Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali (behind Rhode), celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, entrepreneurs Lauryn and Michael Bosstick, Anastasia Soare of Anastasia Beverly Hills, makeup artist and YouTuber Laura Lee, and creators Sarah Palmyra and Ashley Paige.
Today, Flamingo Estate is a broad-reaching lifestyle brand that encompasses beauty, home, books and more. In its early years, the company was known for delivering restaurant-quality produce to Angelenos from farmers affected by restaurant closures.
Last week, Variety reported that Blanchett is set to star as Stewart in an upcoming biopic named “Good Thing.” Variety said that “Zola” director Janicza Bravo will helm the project.
