The ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ x Nike Air Max 95 ‘Joey’ Will Only Release Through Three U.S. Stores

One of which is the Snkrs app.

The long-awaited release of the “Yu-Gi-Oh!” x Nike Air Max 95s is just a day away. And while it’s been known for some time that the “Jonouchi” colorway will be exclusive to Japan, it’s now been confirmed that the “Joey” edition will only release through a small number of channels in the U.S.

Just three stores will have stock of the blue “Yu-Gi-Oh!” x Nike Air Max 95 Joey. Outside of the Snkrs app, the only other avenues will be through in-person drops from the boutiques Bait and Sole Play.

On Saturday, SolePlay will host a first come, first serve release at its Decatur, Ga. location. An event that same day will also feature several giveaways, with the chance to win a free pair via trading card duels, a costume contest or another contest for the best “Yu-Gi-Oh!” collection as judged by crowd.

Snkrs, of course, will employ its typical Draw system Friday. Pricing is set at $210.

The Air Max 95 collaboration is a full-circle moment for the “Yu-Gi-Oh!” franchise, which featured a duplicate of the sneaker called the Air Muscle in a 1997 issue of its manga. Both colorways are named for the character central to that plot, who’s known as Joey Wheeler in English editions and Katsuya Jonouchi in the original Japanese.

Several shade of blue define the Joey edition, and the Jonouchi opts for grayscale. Both are united by printed scuffs on the midsole and Air Max units, Air Muscle tongue branding, graphic insoles and “Yu-Gi-Oh!” logo outsoles. Each also comes with own corresponding trading card.
