Willy Chavarria and Adidas have quickly developed a penchant for sneaker hybrids since beginning their partnership in the spring. Among their output has been a dress shoe version of Kareem Abdul’s signature sneaker and a huarache-inspired silhouette that stirred up controversy over allegations of cultural appropriation. The trend will continue soon with the transformation of an ’80s basketball sneaker into a plush leather boot.
The Willy Chavarria x Adidas Forum boot will release in December alongside more traditional makeups of the silhouette and additional colorways of their Jabbar Low, Footwear News can exclusively report. For the boot, the Forum’s upper has at once been streamlined and hiked up to rise well above the ankle. Rendered in all-black with a plush leather upper, the revamped model also features a revamped sole unit with lugs and a wavy midsole, as well as a rubber toe tip with ridges. The biggest holdover from the original Forum is the midfoot window with Three Stripes.

Chavarria has also applied his touches to a Forum High maintaining its shape from 1984 and with added color. With a black base, red pops out on the Three Stripes, rose tongue tag and Chavarria-debossed strap. Beneath the lateral collar, the designer’s signature is also embossed in gold.
Rounding out the footwear capsule will be three new colorways of their collaborative Jabbar Low. Available in either white and gold, black and white or black with leopard print, each features a lace shroud and “Willy” debossing. On the predominantly black pair, you’ll also find the pony hair animal print on the vamp and shroud.
Adidas launched the Forum in 1984, and it was the company’s first basketball sneaker to be offered with a low-top counterpart next to the high. More recently, it played a prominent role in the earlier stages of Bad Bunny’s Adidas line.
The Willy Chavarria x Adidas Forum boot and other footwear will release Dec. 12 through both parties’ websites and select third-party retailers.
