With the resumption of his Nike relationship, Tom Sachs‘ highly anticipated Mars Yard 3.0 was officially announced for a September launch earlier this year. And as the release date draws near, detailed images for the sneaker have now surfaced.
In-hand images of the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 3.0 have been revealed by the Instagram user @wadism. While a map of the shoe’s various specs were posted by Sachs himself in September, these photos give a much better look at what’s guaranteed to be one of the biggest sneakers of 2025. Swappable insoles can be seen, as can the branding elements on the inner tongue.

A familiar upper is constructed with open mesh polyester and suede, as well as TPU reinforcements for the toe cap and heel clip and a silkscreen Swoosh. React foam, a carbon fiber plate and a natural rubber outsole are then used for a sole unit with much higher performance than previous models.
Getting more granular, the lacing system utilizes a “Blucher” open eyestay, oversize 5mm eyelets 4mm round ribbed polyester laces and a lace keeper. Nylon donning pull straps are used for the tongue and heel, and a men’s size 9 weighs just 465 grams.
In 2023, following the release of his Nike General Purpose Shoe in three colorways, Sachs’ partnership with Nike was put on hold because of allegations of a toxic workplace in his New York City studio. The artist was accused of throwing items at his employees, making inappropriate sexual comments and labeling a storage room “Rape Room.”
Sachs published his apology to staff, which included some denials, and not long after Nike issued a statement saying, “We are not working with Tom’s studio at this time and have no release dates planned.”
In February, the two parties announced that the partnership was back on with the Mars Yard 3.0 scheduled to arrive in September.
Sachs’ Mars Yard 2.0 released in 2017 and now sells for as much as $7,000 on resale platforms such as StockX. In 2021, Sachs chose select people to participate in a wear test for the unreleased Mars Yard 2.0
The Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 3.0 will release in September, likely through Sachs’ website, the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $275.
