The new Sesame colorway launched Tuesday via retail and the Aritzia app, following exclusive early access on Monday via the app.

The athletic giant and the Vancouver-based design house have been working on the Nike LD-1000 sneaker, a revived running style from the 1970s, as a site of reinvention. The collaborative sneaker is crafted with premium tumbled leather which is meant to look better with age, made unique with natural wear and patina. The Sesame colorway, which is a creamy beige hue, further allows this aspect of the materiality to come through.

Amid a wave of retro sneakers trending, Nike’s LD-1000 has made a strong comeback. Dating back to 1977, the style originally made for long distance runners features Bill Bowerman’s famous waffle sole and a distinctive flared heel. A collaboration with Stüssy helped to bring attention to the return of the OG style in 2024, and it’s since been a canvas for partnerships with other buzzy names like “Stranger Things” and Commes des Garçons, in addition to Aritzia.

The Nike x Artizia Edition A first launched in the fall in the colorway Fauna Brown, a deep woodsy hue. This collaboration followed Artizia teaming up with Sperry on boat shoes. The popular fashion chain’s retail presence is expanding, and the company recently acquired Fred Segal.
