Last fall, Nike brought Air Max further into the future than ever by revealing the 3D-printed Air Max 1000. Many expected the innovative shoe to release on this year’s Air Max Day, but the celebration came and went without the new model. Now, it appears Nike is finally gearing up to launch the 3D-printed silhouette this summer.
Pairs of the Nike Air Max 1000 “Foamy Oat” started making their way to influencers in the spring, and Kicks Finder is now reporting that the colorway will be used to launch the sneaker this summer. All of the 3D-printed material appears in the natural “Foamy Oat” colorway, allowing the Air Max unit to pop in Nike’s signature “Total Orange.”
While maintaining some of the familiar shapes as the seminal Air Max 1, the Air Max 1000 is printed by the specialists at Zellerfeld as a single piece. The Air Max unit is then popped in under the heel. Nike lead footwear designer Cristian Gonzalez described the two technologies combining to create an “engaging underfoot experience that delivers comfort and responsiveness” in a behind-the-scenes look at the shoe’s design posted to the Snkrs app last year.

Nike didn’t end up debuting a new Air Max sneaker this year on Air Max Day, although its Air Max Dn8 did launch not long before. For its 30th anniversary, the Air Max 95 has been a focal point of releases this year and touched down with the Big Bubble treatment in the original “Neon” colorway in March.
Zellerfeld is the go-to for 3D-printing in the footwear industry, as the German company has manufactured shoes for Louis Vuitton, Jeff Staple, Heron Preston, KidSuper and more.
The Nike Air Max 1000 “Foamy Oat” will release sometime this summer, likely through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $200.
