The multi-textured black Air Force 1 isn’t the only upcoming version of the 1980s Nike sneaker that will don faux fur. The next group of Air Force 1 Lows, offered in model-staple black and white colorways, takes the animal theme to the extreme with full faux pony coverage.
The Air Force 1 Low Pony Hair pack includes a Sail/Sail/Muslin style, which surfaced in May courtesy of retailer JD Sports UK, and a second Black/Black/Off Noir iteration that will be released this month via Japanese retailer Atmos.
Both pairs feature fully tonal uppers covered in pony hair, with leather heel tabs and tongues marking the only deviation from the shaggy material. Matching waxed shoelaces add an even more elevated touch to both pairs. Aesthetically, the Sail style features an aged look thanks to its off-white and pre-yellowed components, while the all-black pair is more straightforward but does include some faded Off-Noir details.

Nike has also been experimenting with furs and prints on other models such as the Field General 82. Like those pairs, the Air Force 1 Low styles will be released exclusively in women’s sizing.
Beyond the equine looks featured here, the Air Force 1 has been a topic of discussion thanks to Nike’s viral Dirty Triple White release. The model was recently featured in a collaboration with streetwear brand Supreme and Hiroshi Fujiwara’s GoodEnough imprint and will soon be released in a special Kobe Bryant Protro edition.
Both Nike Air Force 1 Low Pony Hair styles pictured here are set to be released at Atmos Tokyo on June 14 for 22,550 yen, which converts to around $155 as of publishing.
