Five Arrested After Allegedly Stealing $20K in Sneakers From Marcus Jordan’s Trophy Room Warehouse

Concluding a monthslong investigation following an October burglary during Hurricane Milton.

An Orlando, Fla. warehouse rented by Trophy Room owner Marcus Jordan, the son of NBA and sneaker legend Michael Jordan, was hit with a five-figure burglary in October during a particularly vulnerable moment for the city.

Various local news reports citing the Orange County Sheriff’s Office state that on Oct. 10, just hours after Hurricane Milton touched down, five masked men broke into a Trophy Room warehouse and ransacked the property in search of valuable footwear.

After months passed without leads, detective John Mendez of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that began to unravel the crime. A Trophy Room employee told Mendez that he saw some of the sneakers, including the rare Air Jordan 1 collaboration, being sold at a downtown Orlando resale store.

Police were then able to trace the sale of those sneakers back to a suspect who, upon being questioned, was allegedly also wearing one of the stolen shoes at the time. That individual then confessed, which led detectives to four more suspects.

Arrested Friday were Kahmari Jones-Shipley, Timothy Mitchell Jr., Channing Rattcliffe, Allen Wimbley and Scott Wimbley Jr. The men face varying charges ranging from dealing in stolen property to grand theft.

“Just know, that just because there’s a hurricane, once it’s over, we’re going to investigate every lead, and we’re going to catch you,” Mendez told Fox 35.
