A collision of two of the Air Jordan 1‘s most highly regarded collaborators has been slowly teased since spring, generating excitement for a series of sneakers still a year out from release. Two colorways have already been revealed for the Fragment x Union Air Jordan 1, and Hiroshi Fujiwara has now been spotted in a third.
The “Godfather of Streetwear” wore the Fragment Design x Union x Air Jordan 1 High “Black Royal” in images posted Wednesday to Instagram by fellow sneaker stalwart Jeff Staple. Like at least one of the previous colorways shown, as well as several more standalone Union collaborations, the shoe mashes up two established editions of the Air Jordan 1.
“Black Royal” color-blocking is used for the majority of he sneaker, while the collar appears to be modeled after “Metallic Blue.” To highlight the two elements, contrast stitching joins the regions. Fragment’s logo is embossed on the lateral heel, beneath which sits brand signature text on the midsole. As an added flourish, a shaggy white suede appears beneath the strap — differing from the “Metallic Blue” leather used on the colorway of the same name.

The three-way collaboration first leaked in a “Game Royal” and “Black Toe” colorway in April, and just a few weeks later Fujiwara was spotted in a black and white edition without enough visibility to fully analyze.
Union began the mash-up approach to Air Jordan 1s with two editions released in 2018 and returned to the motif this year with a “Chicago” and “Shadow” hybrid.
Later this year, Fujiwara and Fragment Design will join another established Air Jordan 1 partnership by adding their motifs to Travis Scott’s silhouette.
The Fragment Design x Union LA x Air Jordan 1 High “Black Royal” is expected to release in spring 2026. Pricing is set at $205.
