A new version of Deion Sanders’ first signature sneaker is set to release soon — except it’s actually the old version.
The Nike Air DT Proto 92 is a previously unreleased prototype for the Air Diamond Turf that’s set to hit stores for the first time this summer. Most of the shoe’s design remains the same, and the first difference you’re likely to notice is the Swoosh’s new position atop the strap’s mesh window. The mark previously appeared directly above the laces on the strap, and in its place now is block Nike text.

Sanders’ dual-sport logo makes its return to the tongue, albeit without the “Diamond Turf” text used for the original. A new color scheme switches the application of white, black and red from the OG “Atlanta” colorway, and leather takes place of the nubuck previously used for the overlays. The differences lie only in these small details, though, as the shape of the sneaker otherwise remains the same.

The Air Diamond Turf made its debut in 1993 in colors to match both the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves for which Sanders then played. Four more signature sneakers would be released during his time at Nike, and an Air Diamond Turf 6 quietly launched in 2016, when Sanders had long since severed his relationship, as a modernized version of the first model.
Since Sanders’ return to Nike in 2023, the Air Diamond Turf and the Air DT Max 96, his third and other most popular model, have released in several colorways with their original branding. Nike has also made two different mashups with the LeBron 21, one of which is set to release in May in the same “Atlanta” colorway.
The Nike Air DT Proto 92 will release this summer, likely through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $150, the same as the regular Air Diamond Turf.
