Nike‘s newest round of Doernbecher Freestyle sneakers includes a pair of Air Force 1 Lows inspired by a patient of the children’s hospital’s love of Chipotle. The fast-casual chain had no involvement in that sneaker, but it did step up to work with Nike on a custom sneaker for the 10-year-old designer.
The Chipotle x Nike Air Force 1 Low was made exclusively for Oli Fasone-Lancaster and presented to him at an auction in October. It’s as loaded as a burrito with detailing from the restaurant, beginning with a bright green Swoosh representing guacamole and silver patent leather overlays that mimic the foil burrito wrappings.

Chipotle’s logo has been applied to the lateral heel and tongue tag, while a translucent sole unit appears in brown just like Chipotle bags and with “Chipotle Is My Life” stamped beneath the outsole. Fasone-Lancaster’s go-to order is printed on the inner-tongue tag, and “Oli’s Order #572” then adorns the mustache to invoke to the 572 laps he walked as an impatient at Doernbecher while being treated for T-cell lymphoma.

Fasone-Lancaster was presented with the sneaker at the Doernbecher auction Oct. 17 with packaging mimicking that of a burrito bowl. He was also given a Chipotle VIP card, and Chipotle has announced it will use its Round Up feature on its app and website for donations to Doernbecher from Nov. 17 through Dec. 2.
“Oli’s continued resilience and playful way of incorporating his favorite foods into his treatment experience really inspired our teams,” Chris Brandt, Chipotle president and chief brand officer, said in a release. “We’re beyond grateful for the opportunity to share his story alongside Nike and OHSU Doernbecher and help support the groundbreaking efforts of the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.”
The Chipotle x Nike Air Force 1 Low won’t release to the public, but Fasone-Lancaster’s design featuring unofficial nods to the burrito slinger will release on the Snkrs app this winter.
