One of Michael Jordan’s lesser-seen signature models, the Air Jordan 7, is set for a revival in 2026, one that will thus far include new looks, with no original colorways reported as of publishing. One of the new colorways expected to grace Jordan’s seventh sneaker takes a page from an unexpected sport: the game of tennis.

While Jordan is personally well-acquainted with both baseball and golf, a tennis-themed Air Jordan 7 comes as somewhat surprising news. According to early information, the US Open-timed release will don a Phantom/Lemon Twist/Pink Blast/Anthracite color combination which is said to be directly inspired by another iconic Nike model, Andre Agassi’s Air Tech Challenge 2.

Agassi’s signature Nike line was notable for its early-1990s-styled fluorescent hues and eye-catching patterns, so it’s feasible to see how the reported color combination could translate to an Air Tech Challenge 2-themed design.

In yet another link, both the 1989 Air Tech Challenge 2 and 1992’s Air Jordan 7 were created by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield.

As surprising as news of a tennis-themed Air Jordan 7 may be, it’s not the first time Jordan’s signature line has crossed over to the court. In 2014, his third sneaker was used as the base for Nike’s Zoom Vapor Tour AJ3 sneaker, a mash-up of the Air Jordan 3 and Roger Federer’s Zoom Vapor 9 model.

The Air Jordan 7 Retro “Tennis Day” is expected to be released on Sept. 9 for a retail price of $215 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers. The style code for the new release is IV6508-030.
