The Beloved Air Jordan 3 ‘Seoul’ Is Returning With a Few Tweaks

The 2.0 version takes on faux aging.

In 2018 Jordan Brand celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Seoul Olympics by dropping a new Air Jordan 3 colorway exclusive to the South Korean capital. The sneaker can fetch up to $2,000 on the resale market, and an updated version of the rare sneaker is now imminent.

The Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0” runs back the beloved with colorway with a new look that makes it quite old. As revealed in images from the trusted sneaker leaker @kicksaluoluo2, the updated version gets a heavily yellowed midsole matched by its rubber eyestays. The famous elephant print also takes on a darker look to suggest aging, and a couple of other small changes arrive outside the vintage mission. A white outsole has been swapped for grey, and the blue leather collar now appears in cotton with a series of vertical stitches to invoke Korean garments.

Everything else on the “Seoul 2.0” remains the same, including the red and blue taegeuk from the South Korean flag replacing the Jumpman on the tongue. And while the few images out now don’t show it, the Korean hanja for “Seoul” and “Harmony and Progress,” the motto of the 1988 Summer Olympics, on the left and right inner tongue are likely to return as well.

Jordan Brand also brought back the Air Jordan 3 “Seoul” in 2020, but only in women’s sizing. Resale prices for that version are much lower in the $300 to $400 range.

The Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 3.0” will reportedly release May 15, and it’s not yet clear if it will be exclusive to South Korea once again or subject to wider availability. Pricing, too, is not yet confirmed, and Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.
