Typically, original colorways of Air Jordan sneakers are the ones with the most fan interest, but there are exceptions. Along with the beloved “Cool Gray,” the Air Jordan 11’s “Gamma” style has become a cult-favorite non-original style for the model. And soon, more than a decade after its 2013 debut, the Gamma iteration will receive its first-ever reissue.
Officially confirmed for a Dec. 13 release is the Air Jordan 11 Retro Gamma. The style gets its Gamma nickname from the inclusion of Gamma Blue in the Black/Black/Varsity Maize/Gamma Blue colorway, one which Jordan Brand says originated when the design team sought to create a new look for the Air Jordan 11 which didn’t reference past styles. The idea was to give the sneaker its first-ever “triple black” makeover, albeit with the addition of the electric-esque light blue and yellow accents.

As the brand acknowledges in a behind-the-scenes product description, the Gamma Air Jordan 11 wasn’t an immediate hit with all sneaker fans. Going as far as to call the colorway “controversial,” Jordan Brand says that some older fans found it “challenging” to connect with the shoe since Michael Jordan himself never wore it. On the contrary, younger fans have a nostalgic feeling about the pair, fondly remembering a style their older friends and family would wear.
The first-ever reissue of the Gamma Air Jordan 11 Retro comes with a few modifications compared to the original ’13 style. In 2016, Jordan Brand remastered the model, adding modernized mesh and a higher-cut patent leather mudguard as well as what the brand describes as “slight aesthetic tweaks to the design to make the shoe feel fresher and a bit sleeker.” These are all present on the Gamma rerelease, but what wasn’t changed was the shoe’s familiar color placement and shades of yellow and blue.
Fittingly, the Air Jordan 11 Retro Gamma will come in sizing for the whole family. Men’s pairs are priced at $235 with big kids at $190, little kids at $105, toddler at $90 and crib booties priced at $75. Fans who can’t get enough of the Gamma look also have the option to purchase a Retro 11 Wallet for $65 along with apparel beginning at $28.
The Air Jordan 11 Retro Gamma will be released Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. ET from nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers. The style code for men’s pairs is CT8012-047. Readers can find an official look a the ’26 version below.
