Adidas has once again teamed up with iconic sneaker shop West NYC to ring in the 85th anniversary of its sister store Tip Top Shoes with a limited-edition footwear capsule.
With West NYC helming the creative process, the Tip Top Shoes 85th Anniversary collection features two silhouettes – the SL 72 RS and the Handball Spezial sneaker models. According to Adidas, the collaborative styles nod to the retailer’s “rich heritage while looking into its future as the last full-service, comprehensive footwear retailer in New York City.”

Looking closer at the styles, the collaboration’s SL 72 RS features a burgundy suede upper with pinking and perforation details that echo embellishments typically found in wingtip oxfords that harken back to Tip Top Shoes’ roots as a true sit-and-fit shoe store.

In contrast, the vibrant Handball Spezial looks to the future with a bold pink bouclé upper and “West Side Best Side” heel tab decals—a playful reference to the Upper West Side, where West NYC and Tip Top Shoes are community fixtures who have called the neighborhood home since their foundation.
To mark the launch, West NYC and Adidas Cornerstone Community will host a launch event on April 24 that will unite the past with the present and future. NYC icons Nina Sky will take the stage for a live DJ set.
Finally, to pay the success forward to others in the footwear space, a portion of the proceeds from Tip Top Shoes 85th Anniversary collection sales will be donated to Two Ten Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and empowering workers in the footwear industry.
The Tip Top Shoes 85th Anniversary collection’s SL 72 RS retails for $120, with the Handball Spezial retailing for $130. Both silhouettes will be available from April 26 at West NYC and Tip Top Shoes, as well as their respective online shops.
