Nearly two years have passed since Anthony Edwards’ first signature sneaker drew some of the most rave reviews in the category for years, and the wait for its successor will finally come to an end soon.
The Adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Blue Fusion” landed in the hands of a reviewer, giving the public the fullest picture of the forthcoming model ahead of a reported October launch.
A glossy white TPU overlay cradles the side of the foot like asymmetric horns as it rises from the midsole at the toe and heel with black inserts. The quilted mesh base arrives in green, while the larger of the two horns hosts pointed cutouts revealing a lime green sublayer to match the vamp and brand elements. In the smaller horn, carbon fiber is applied in the interior in a likely bid for lightweight lockdown. The uppermost portion of the shoe, made up of the snug collar and tongue, then almost disappears into the void as it’s rendered in black.

A near-two-year gap between sneakers is unusual in the signature basketball space, with the now earliest reported release date for the Anthony Edwards 2 coming 20 months after the Anthony Edwards 1 first hit stores. An entirely different sneaker purported to be the second model leaked much earlier and was subjected to significant ridicule.
Coming off the runaway hit of the Anthony Edwards 1, which helped usher in a new era for Adidas Basketball, Adidas has played it mostly quiet on its sequel. A partially obscured shot of the sneaker did appear during in an earnings call in the spring, but no one actually acknowledged what it was.
The Adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Blue Fusion” will release Oct. 25, likely through Adidas’ website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $130.
