Tom Cruise continued to show his appreciation for subtly height-boosting footwear at the “F1: The Movie” London movie premiere. The actor laced up a pair of heeled brogues for the event, where he connected with the film’s star Brad Pitt, who had also reached for footwear with an understated heel.
Cruise’s classic black dress shoes featured an almond toe, an arched sole, and a block heel, while brogue detailing adorned the shoes.

The shoes accompanied a crisp dark gray suit and light gray dress shirt, which was left unbuttoned at the top; he went sans tie, emphasizing the casual air to his formal look.
Pitt, who plays a race car driver returning to the sport in “F1: The Movie,” opted for a forest green suit including a double-breasted blazer, creased trousers, a white button-down and a silky light green scarf. A pair of burgundy shoes with a block heel and almond toe completed his look.
Cruise, who is five-foot-seven, used this footwear trick back in Cannes for the premiere of “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” when he wore patent leather lace-up shoes with a tuxedo, and again at the London premiere of the film, where he wore brogues with an all-black suit. He posed with Michael B. Jordan at the event, who was elevated in height by a pair of chunky Louis Vuitton shoes that complemented an outfit from the French brand.
The public has had an interest in Cruise’s footwear for years, believing he uses “elevator” shoes to add a little extra height to his five-seven stature. It’s a common trick used in men’s fashion, and the modern-day style gained momentum in 1972 when Mario Bertulli, an Italian artisan, introduced an inconspicuous hidden-sole design, offering almost four extra inches to the wearer.
