Mariah Carey put her spin on monochrome dressing in London on Monday with the help of black platform sandals, yet another pair of shoes proving her penchant for elevated footwear.
The “We Belong Together” singer opted for a pair of chunky sandals boasting a moderate rounded platform in front, a steeply sloped sole and a thick towering block heel with a slightly tapered silhouette. In addition to height and heft, the shoes made a statement with wide criss-crossing straps creating a simple X formation across the foot while additional thinner straps encircled the ankle. The shoes were crafted with a leather or leather-like material with a shiny finish which conferred a certain formal energy to the footwear look.
Carey, whose next album “Here for It All” is slated for release in September, selected the platforms to round out an all-black nighttime look elevated by shimmering details. She wore a pair of semi-sheer skin-tight pants embellished with sequins, a black top and an ultra-cropped black leather jacket with zippers adding linear elements to the garment. Her jewelry, too, lent her an additional sparkle as she showcased a stacked bracelet and a pendant necklace (a different one from the colorful Mimi So piece she wore last week.)

A fan of bold, height-boosting footwear, Carey just recently modeled a pair of crystal-embellished platform Prada heels when performing at Brighton Pride earlier this month. Her performance attire for that occasion also included two pairs of knee-high metallic boots from Giuseppe Zanotti, one set silver and one set gold. And not so long ago in July when she performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Carey opted for a pair of black sparkling platforms from Louis Vuitton.
