Kristen Stewart kept her recent run of vintage sneaker moments going in West Hollywood on Sunday, stepping out in a pair of rare green-and-white Adidas Rekord sneakers at Film Independent Presents: An Intimate Evening and Reception with Kristen Stewart for “The Chronology of Water.” The event, held at The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills, marked one of the final Los Angeles appearances tied to her upcoming directorial debut.
The retro sneakers featured a smooth green leather upper with white serrated three-stripe detailing, a rounded toe and a flat rubber sole — a clean, low-profile build typical of Adidas’ early training shoes. Stewart styled the pair with black straight-leg jeans cuffed at the ankle, a white T-shirt and a rust-red zip jacket, keeping the look firmly in the vintage wheel.

Originally introduced in 1959, the Rekord was designed as a lightweight trainer bridging Adidas’ running and indoor-football categories. It’s one of the brand’s earliest thin-soled models, preceding later icons like the SL 72. The Rekord resurfaced in 2020 as the Adidas Overdub, a renamed update that preserved the original’s slim silhouette, serrated stripes and low rubber sole.
Stewart’s choice follows her late October appearance at another “Chronology of Water” screening, where she wore red Converse trainers — continuing a visible preference for archival sneakers over heels. The mix of heritage footwear has become a throughline for the actor-director, who’s often alternated between vintage sportswear and Chanel tailoring on her press tour.
Adidas has likewise been mining its past this year, most notably with the Italia ’60 Made in Italy reissue and renewed attention on slim-soled classics like the Samba and Taekwondo.
“The Chronology of Water,” Stewart’s directorial debut, is adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir and centers on a woman who finds her voice after a turbulent childhood marked by violence and addiction. The film premiered at Cannes back in May and is set for limited release in December.
