Following an appearance in a blush-hued ensemble at the inaugural Netflix Tudum event on Saturday, Kerry Washington dressed up in a Japanese-inspired look at the 85th Annual Peabody Awards on Monday, representing one of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s last collections for the brand prior to her announcement of stepping down from her creative director position.
At the awards show in Beverly Hills, the documentary “Daughters,” produced by Washington’s Simpson Street banner, earned a Peabody Award.

For the occasion, Washington was styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. She showcased an ensemble from Dior‘s pre-fall 2025 collection, which was presented at the Tō-ji Garden in Kyoto, Japan, in March. Her look consisted of a velvety column skirt with a blue floral blossom design against a white backdrop; the garment was finished with long and lustrous gold fringe at the bottom. The skirt was paired with a loose semisheer navy knit sweater, which hung off her shoulder, creating an asymmetric look.
Denni Hu reviewed Dior’s pre-fall 2025 collection for WWD, writing in part, “…the nocturnal showcase offered Chiuri’s spin on founder Christian Dior’s love of Japanese florals, embroidery and his love of garden motifs in a subdued — or as she called it, a ‘practical’ — color palette, with silhouettes that matched the active lifestyles and relaxed dress codes of today.”
It was recently confirmed by Dior that designer Jonathan Anderson will replace Chiuri as creative director.
Washington paired her pre-fall look with a simple pair of black platform sandals with a rounded toe and a minimalist horizontal strap across the toes.
