Giuseppe Zanotti is reviving one of his most recognizable designs this fall. The Slim sandal — a cult-favorite silhouette made famous by Samantha Jones in “Sex and the City” — is returning Monday in a new collector’s edition drop.
The Slim 2.0 arrives in black and ivory napa leather, updated with a pointed-toe sole that mirrors the brand’s Intriigo sandal. The heel version is set on a 105mm stiletto, while the flat iteration offers a more pared-back option. Both styles carry Zanotti’s hallmark fishbone detail — a silver spine that runs cleanly across the foot, finished with more than 300 crystals set by hand.
Zanotti first sketched the sandal on a tablecloth at a restaurant in Cesenatico, Italy. In 2004, it became a reality, with that sketch quickly turning into one of the label’s most recognizable shoes. Four years later, it was immortalized on screen when Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones wore the sandal in a pivotal sushi scene in the 2008 “Sex and the City” film.

“This is fish bone — I designed the shoe 25 years ago, I was a kid,” Zanotti told FN earlier this month. “I like to preserve my code and my DNA. I changed the line and the accessories, now we have the crystals, but the idea is the same. This sandal is ‘Sex and the City’ at the time, and now, it’s back. It’s me — I’m back after 25 years.”
The Slim’s construction underscores its status in the brand’s archive. Each pair requires 48 hours of handwork by 21 artisans across 24 production steps. The metal fishbone, adapted to the foot’s natural curve, undergoes nine quality checks before assembly. The stiletto version retails for $2,230; the flat sandal for $1,850. An ivory colorway will be available exclusively through the brand’s e-commerce site.
The re-edition is part of GZ Signature, a tier dedicated to preserving key silhouettes from the house’s history. “It’s a tribute to the past but also a celebration of timeless design that continues to captivate new generations,” Zanotti said in the press release.
Giuseppe Zanotti will celebrate two decades of the Slim’s cultural footprint with a dinner in Paris in November, marking the official return of one of fashion’s most storied sandals.
